Department of Cultural Affairs Commissioner Tom Finkelpearl discusses art, leadership, institutions, and how to create change at the scale of the city, including CreateNYC, the first-ever comprehensive cultural plan for the City of New York. Studied and produced over two years and released in July 2017, the plan "is intended to serve as a roadmap to a more inclusive, equitable, and resilient cultural ecosystem, in which all residents have a stake." Finkelpearl will be joined in conversation by Dean Carol Becker.
Co-presented by the Arts Administration Program, Teachers College; Mailman School for Public Health; Columbia GSAPP; and the Urban and Social Policy Concentration, School of International and Public Affairs.
