For a fun look into the brain, and together with the Zuckerman Institute's Saturday Science event Your Amazing Brain, this film is set in the mind of a young girl named Riley. This Oscar-winning animated film follows five personified emotions – Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust – as they help Riley adjust to her changing life. Inside Out was developed in consultation with neuroscientists and psychologists at UC Berkeley and San Francisco.

This year’s “Year of Water” series of family films begins with Ponyo (2008), directed by the legendary Studio Ghibli animator Hayao Miyazaki. Inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson story The Little Mermaid, Miyazaki’s film tells the story of a young goldfish princess and the balance between the earth and the sea. We presented this film in its English dub, featuring voice acting by Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, and Tina Fey.
